A New Day is Dawning

It is that time of year...

No I not referring to Christmas like most other Blogs

I am Referring to Japanese Whaling and slaughtering of approx 1000 whales for their Scientific Fish Markets...

The New Australian Government is sending a Coast Guard Armed Navy ship to Monitor the Japanese operation and hopefully gather enough evidence to stop this barbaric pratice...

This is what we are doing:

"The Australian prime minister, Kevin Rudd, today set his country on a diplomatic collision course with Japan with reports that he plans to send an armed vessel to monitor a controversial whaling expedition to the southern ocean.
Rudd's Labor government is negotiating with the cruise ship firm P&O to send a vessel equipped with machine guns and powerful cameras to track the Japanese fleet, the Sydney Morning Herald said.
The Japanese fleet left port for the Antarctic last month vowing to slaughter more than 1,000 whales in its biggest ever "scientific" hunt."

What are thoughts on Australias stance.....?

Labor Wins!

Well a new day has dawned, The starts of new era in the life of Australia and although we will have to a few months to wait till Kevin Rudd Takes Over, the effects are flowing through already in seems….
It is being called a landslide victory for the Federal Labor Party, Prime Minister John Howard and the Liberal have been Sacked yep Fired …
Its is funny how many people at there who voted Liberal are still aruguing telling us the sky is falling and the world is coming to an end...fortunately they are as few and the votes counted for them......

An Atmosphere of hope and expectation seems to be filling the Australian Public. The Liberal Party has always been seen as the Businessmans, accountants and economy Party, where as the Labor Party as the Working Mans, social conscience, Fair Go party… And that is what the Australian People have decided is more Important…
The Greens have increased their ranking with huge swings in votes to them.. none more so than in Tasmania where the Pulp Mill has been the big issue and the only 2 Liberal held seats going to Labour after Green Preferences so hopefully this will be enough to change the decision and get it stopped…
I believe as does a vast number of people that the next 3 years are going to put back the inequilties of the past, fix the problems and make our Country the Fair Go Capital in the World once More…
That to me is the essence of what the change will bring… and although we have high hopes with the change we have voted for there is a long road ahead, big promises made and big expectations lets hope this New Government can deliver what so many of us believe we need….
Your thoughts are welcome..

On Saturday We Vote

So who will you vote for:

I have been amazed at all the scare mongering and nasty lying commercials being played on the TV as to the Labor and Greens Party..... At any other time these forms of advertising would never have made it to air...
The Liberal and Family First Parties have a lot to answer for and using an Ad Compaign of this poor quality has signs of Desperation ....
I don't know about you but this sort of behavior just gets my back up, and tends to push me in the opposite direction....
So will be voting for more of the same or are you looking a change.... I tend to think a change is as good as a holiday and I havent a holiday in a long time....

The Boogyman

When I was a child, I was told stories about a boogy man. He would lurk in places dark and secluded and take children who were inplaces they should not be. Scary stuff but it stopped me wandering off and I remained reasonably safe through out those years.

Now I am adult I am still being told the same stories, but this time they are not the Boogyman I must watch out for it is Terrorist. And where the Boogy man would take children from their parents and hurt them these guys just blow you up. And just like the Boogyman they could be anyone, Your neighbour, your friend, your teacher, the bus driver, the guy walking past you in the street.....

I am so over these scary stories.

It is getting to the point where a person can't think, say, do, watch, read, or even look as they wish... I fear the world is fast becoming a world where people will be to afraid to leave their homes.

Whose leading the chase

I don't know about you but I am getting bored with the Federal Election....

Not the issues mind you but the campaign itself, all these ads on the TV, Liberals saying OH BEWARE THE UNION!, Labour saying ITS TIME FOR NEW LEADERSHIP!

Come on guys the only time there is some sort of interest is when both parties actually announce something. If this is the best either party can do maybe it is time for third party to enter the frame and give us someone else to vote for..... A third party which can hold government when the other two are so close together it really doesn't matter....

If I was going to score the past 3 weeks I would have to say that Labor and Kevin Rudd are in the lead although their policies are very similar to the Libs they are miles apart on Social Issues and the environment.....

What do you think are the scare campaigns working for you?
Would a third Party make it easier?
Are you just wanting to vote and end the misery?

Did You watch the Great Debate?

On Sunday night here in Oz land we had the standard political Debate between the Federal Government Liberal (inpower) and the Federal Opposition Labor (not in Power)...
Every election time we sit and watch and here the same old spin from either party and usually the opposition has won the debate and lost the election, this time was shaping up to be the same.....

But it wasn't!

This time round yes the opposition won the debate.... but I must say I was impressed with the whole process....

The Prime Minister normally looks very nervous for about 15 minutes and then settles in nicely the look at me I am the chosen one, and the leader of the Opposition looks Cocky and sure of himself. But this time round Mr John Howard never really appeared to settle into the debate and each time he tried to move round a question he was pulled up and either forced to answer or a point made of him not answering.....

To this end Kevin Rudd was a clear winner, not intimidated or scared off in anyway....

However during the broadcast of this event, it did run for 90 minutes, three Television stations had the rights to it.....

ABC the one I watched,
Channel 9, and
Sky....

Mr John Howard had impossed stricted rules for the debate and one of his condition was no worm.... the worm is used to gauge public opinion on each of the topics and comments raised by either leader....
Channel 9 has the worm, it is their baby and is almost an Australian Icon and therefore refused not to use it.....
During the Broadcast Channel had their debate feed cut not once but twice and in the end had to resort to using sky's feed......

So much for free speech in Australia.....

This goes far beyond the rights of the media this is censorship in all its forms.....

Do you really care?

I was a little shocked the other day by a friend in response to announced of the upcoming Federal Election (November 24 In case you missed it).

What stuck me as odd?
wasn't the, 'oh well lets get on with it,' or the 'oh great election advertisements,' or even 'finally!'.... It was woopy doo!, who cares, big deal.

I take my voting right very seriously ( in case you couldn't guess) and to me it is my resposibility to make sure I vote for the person and party who I think will do best job for the country and us.

So I asked my friend, 'aren't you even interested in what they will say or what they are planning to do?' and he said "No! I have always voted for"****" and I will this time round...."

This prompted the question "why!" and I was told "I can't be bothered thinking about it, the environment will be taken care of and I like my job it pays me the big dollars and so long I have the money coming in that is all I am worried about..."

'What about the Pulp Mill, health, the hospitals, schools and everything else that needs fixing?'

To this the response was even more shallow than I thought possible: 'the pulp mill, will bring jobs, health well if you want it you can pay for it, education my kids are in private school and do well and I don't care about anyting else, because it will be fixed or I will pay for it privately...if people want those other things such as health care they can get a job and pay for it"
This coming from a fellow who is on $60,000 a year and still holds a health care from the government.
What a horrible attitude to have, but it is becoming more and more ingrain in society and in the young, those lucky enough to have a good job that pays well versus those who don't, the gap is almost the size of canyon.

Oh my God! is this what we have become a bunch of selfish, shallow, thoughtless people who have no time for those who need help,
or do we give a dam about what we will leave our kids in the future.....
I hope it is the latter... because the former is tragidy waiting to happen unless we are already there...

Inconvenient Facts

Yesterday a British court has determined that Al Gore's schlockumentary "An Inconvenient Truth" contains at least eleven material falsehoods.
It seems a safe bet David Letterman and Diane Sawyer won't be discussing this wouldn't you agree?
For those that haven't been following this case, a British truck driver filed a lawsuit to prevent the airing of Gore's alarmist detritus in England's public schools.
According to the website of the political party the plaintiff, Stewart Dimmock, belongs to (ecstatic emphasis added throughout, h/t Marc Morano):
In order for the film to be shown, the Government must first amend their Guidance Notes to Teachers to make clear that:

1.) The Film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument.

2.) If teachers present the Film without making this plain they may be in breach of section 406 of the Education Act 1996 and guilty of political indoctrination.

3.) Eleven inaccuracies have to be specifically drawn to the attention of school children.

So what was the problem with An Inconverient Truth?

  • The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government's expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.

  • The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.

  • The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute one-off events to global warming.
  • The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that this was not the case.

  • The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.

  • The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant's evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.

  • The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.

  • The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.
  • The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.

  • The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.

  • The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

For those in the US who will probably not here about this event will you...You will know that Al Gore was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and you will here all about Climate Change....

So I do think this kind behaviour on the part of those in power do more to harm the Planet than help it.... Al Gore has given the skeptics of Climate Change all the amunition they need and we may all well pay for that in the years to come...

No African Refugees Allowed!

Is this what Australia has become?
Will we allow the Federal Government to shut our borders to people in their greatest time of need?
Why not help them to settle into our communities, Make their government pay for what they have done by way of the United Nations that is what it is there for isn't it!
This would have to be one of the most WORST THINGS the Australian Government has done to date and they have done some pretty bad things! This is right up there!

These fellows are Janjaweed Soldiers and what the refugees are running from.

Lady your on your own and Australia WILL NOT HELP YOU! because you aren't educate enough and wont fit in..... I know you just want somewhere safe to sleep! but well we wont help so too bad!

Kevin Andrews has stated we will increase our intake of Iraqi Refugees from Syria etc..... But America is doing such at good fixing Iraq they should be sent home after all the war ended more than 3 years ago didn't it! SHAME SHAME SHAME

Australia 'closed' to African refugees

The Howard government will not allow any more African refugees into Australia until at least July next year - and may not accept more in the next refugee intake.

News Limited newspapers report that Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews on Tuesday said Australia had already filled its quota for African refugees this year under the humanitarian refugee program.

"We won't be considering any new applications (for African refugees) until June or July next year," Mr Andrews said.

Earlier on Tuesday, Mr Andrews said Sudanese refugees appeared to have "greater challenges" than other migrants who had come to Australia.

Despite the Darfur crisis in Sudan, the Australian government had allocated just 30 per cent of refugee places to Africans this year, down from 70 per cent in 2004-05.

"We were concerned about the rate of settlement of some communities in Australia," Mr Andrews told Southern Cross Broadcasting.

Many Sudanese had lived through a decade of conflict and had lived in refugee camps for long periods, he said.

"Their level of education, on average, is about grade three levels compared to three or four years' more education for most other refugees that have come to Australia," he said.

"We don't do them any service if we bring them to Australia and we're not able to help them properly settle in this country."

Africans would be replaced by Iraqi refugees from Syrian and Jordanian refugee camps and Burmese residents in camps in Thailand, the News Limited report said.

There was no guarantee Africans would be accepted in Australia's next refugee intake, it said.

"Whether we leave it (the quota) at 30 per cent or take it up or down will depend very much on whether we are having success in terms of their integration into the broader community, and what other humanitarian refugee needs there are around the world," Mr Andrews said.

Solving Climate Change

Are you feed up with the Worlds leaders dragging their feet on Climate Change? I know I am.
Why are they talking about what to do in 2010? What about now?

I have had enough of the procrastinating on this issue, are they hoping the earth with wait till we are ready to solve the problem?

The best and easiest to get a definate plan on this issue is take every leader from every country on this planet, lock them in motel, and tell them you will not leave until all of you have resolved your issues and have a form and legally binding plan solution to the issues of climate change and global warming.
With clear and precise understandings of what will happen if they refuse to comply with the plans put in place.
This would stop all procastination on the issues and give us a firm global plan to solving or lessing the impact we are having.
What do you think?

Iran in America hmmmm

This week has been a time of interesting events in the news.

We have the events taking place in Ragoon with the Monks and general population, the Iranian Prime Minister visiting America, geeze that sounds like a oximoran, Iran in the US hmmm, Delegates leaving the United Nation in Protest during his speech. Then the United Nation and Climate Change Meeting to discuss changes to Kyoto.

Although I do NOT understand the Iranians at all,

I can understand peoples reaction to the countries policies, and given recents events in the middle east I don't wont them to have nuclear weapons either.

But when a leader of a country comes to your country for reason of diplomacy, you should for the same reason listen to what they have to say.
This does in no way show your opinion either way but it does show your willingness to listen and negotiate matters of planetary interest.
When trying to convince a person or a country that your way is better, you should lead by example, show restraint regardless of sick it makes you feel.

Although the circumstances surrounding 9/11, terrible as they were and are, were not condemned by several of these countries, I have not seen anything which said the bombers where Iranian. To my limited understanding the Bombers where Saudi Arabian.
No American Government has suggested they go after the religious leaders of Saudi Arabia thankfully.

In the interest of World Peace the least the US Government could do is listen and show tolerance in order to change the policies of these areas in the world.
With the Iranian opinion of Israel and their refusal to reconize Israels rights, it appears to be no more or less than Israels treatment of the Palestinians rights. If Iran is giving weapons to Palestine, what is the difference between this and America giving weapons to Israel.

Why is it that those who are popular with the west must be right and those who are not wrong.

Somewhere it is written "treat people as you wish to be treated"

With the violence happening between these two countries, The present course of action from all parties does not appear to working, a rational person would think this is not working lets try something else.

Isn't about time all sides try something else?

This must inspire someone!

Recently those wonderful folks Jim and Emma from Go Smell the FLowers, asked the Questions " What inspires you?"
My response was nothing, I find nothing Inspiring these days at all. Not in a way that would inspire me to rush out and buy a T-Shirt or anything.

However I have found inspiration and possibly a little of my humanity has returned after watching the Buddhist Monks in Burma.
These Monks are revered by the people and loved so deeply that they have inspired a nation to action.
All they are doing is marching and protesting for the most basic rights expected by any person.
There is no violence, there is no fowl language, no call to civil unrest, just a large group of monks walking through the city.
Unfortunately the Government has not seen this peaceful protest as non threatning and in response last night open fire on them, live ammo, tear gas, bashings etc, which has caused the death of many monks.
How can anybody do that to another person? This leadeer must be nuts and many think so?
It may well lead to civil war because so far all this action has lead to is many thousands of people joining the protest.
This sort of action in the face of such terrible in justice must inspire the peoples of this planet to look for a solution.

Is nothing Safe

Now not even our toothpaste is safe I think I will go back to Bi-Carb Soda, it safer. the latest casualty. Is nothing safe from chemical enhancement. And we put this crap in our mouths everyday, because it is suppose to be good for teeth but what is it doing to the rest of our bodies.

Three toothpaste brands banned in SA

Three brands of toothpaste have been banned in South Australia amid fears they contain too much of a toxic chemical.

Consumer Affairs Minister Jennifer Rankine said the Mr Cool, Excel and Tri-Leaf Spearmint pastes would be subject to a recall, effective immediately. She said the toothpaste contained more than 0.25 per cent of diethylene glycol (DEG), which could present a serious health risk if ingested, particularly to children and people with kidney or liver disease.

Although toothpaste is not meant to be swallowed, young children have been known to suck on tubes.

Adults also can unintentionally swallow small amounts of toothpaste when brushing their teeth.

"People should double check the list of ingredients on their toothpaste," Ms Rankine said.

"If they find it contains DEG, check the label to ensure it has less than 0.25 per cent by weight.

"If it is more than this amount, do not buy it."

Consumers with tubes of the three banned brands at home can return the toothpaste to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Climate Change is it real?

Scientist the world over are still debating the basic questions of Climate Change.
Questions like "is climate change real?" are still seriously being argued.
Although any person with some idea of the real world will tell you about subtle changes in their own environment, roses blooming earlier each year, or summer/winter being longer are generally the first things mentioned.
The next thing the scientists have started debating is how to fix it and if it is two late to fix......
So I ask you is Climate Change a reality and can it be fixed.......?????

Divine intervention, Perhaps!

Todays News from Yahoo!
Many people around the world would now of the Horse flu out break in Australia. This being the first time this horrble virus has come to our shores. It has the potential to disrupt horse events for months to come but as a side effect of this, is the flow on effects due the quarentine restriction placed on venues. One of these is the World Youth Day.
This event is one of the largest on the Papal Calender. So is the Horse Flu Divine Intervention to stop the event taking place here or is it something a mere co-incidence maybe.....?

'Time is up' for Pope's run at RandwickTime has run out to host the World Youth Day's papal mass at Sydney's Royal Randwick racecourse, Racing NSW chief executive Peter V'Landys says. With 10 months left before the mass and 12 months worth of work to be started, it will take a miracle to have the event at Randwick, Mr V'Landys says.
Randwick has become a quarantine centre for 700 horses affected by the horse flu, stopping World Youth Day (WYD) organisers accessing the track to start work.
"I don't believe they can do it in time," Mr V'Landys told ABC Radio.
"They've really got to now find another venue.
"They need to construct a stage and altar, to accommodate 800 cardinals and the Pope, over a dam. They've done no hydraulics works.
"They've got to put 4,000 toilets into the centre of Randwick and put a sewer line underneath the track.
"They haven't even done geotechnical works to see what works are required."
Racing officials and trainers, who opposed the papal mass being held at Randwick before the horse flu outbreak, have expressed disbelief that WYD workers could be granted permission to enter the quarantined zone.
Mr V'Landys says the mass should be held at Sydney's Homebush Olympic site.
Mr V'Landys will on Friday chair a racing industry meeting to discuss possible programming changes to the 2008 Sydney autumn carnival in the wake of the equine influenza (EI) crisis.

Who is NEXT?

Like so many others around the world, I too have the feeling of impending doom.
Do you feel it?

I'll explain.
When America invaded Afghanistan we thought 'hmmmm ok!' the Taliban need to be out they were and are bad news.
Then after, what we have been told was a successful campaign, most of the troops where withdrawn.
A matter of weeks later 'The Iraq incident' began. This was after a few weeks to months of talk telling us how nasty and dangerous Saddam was. The American Government would know exactly how bad this guy was because they put him power there in the first place.
Anyway, There has been a lot of talk surrounding Syria and Iran and their nuclear plans.
Here in Australia we hear Iran has a secret Nuclear enrichment plant VERY SECRET! we are told, No reporters or UN officials can get to it. Hmmmm!
I need to say at this point this is a bit of a lie, the secret bit. I recently watch a satellite broadcast news program Free to Air which showed the latest Nuclear plant, reporters had access to the plant, the Russian President or Representatives were there and the whole thing was openly discussed within the report. How much it cost, what they were doing, the storage facilities etc.
I do NOT like Nuclear anything but I Dislike lies just as much.

Israel recently, according to gossip and rumour, flew into Syrian airspace and possibly bombed a few things. Not Nice Israel. Several countries have asked 'why?' but no answer.
For the full report please go to: Times On Line

People are beginning to feel the starts of a new war is coming.
What I would like to know is who is next? With the same patterns falling into place with America and the Middle East, will America go after Iran or Syria next and when do you think they will announce.

Is this what it is to be Australian......?

I must say I love Australia. This is by far the best place in the world to live.

Where else in the world would A city of 6 million people allow 'the police and government to shut down the Central Business Area, transport, shopping, and all traffic in and out, erect a massive steel fence around the centre of their city, put up with the general mayhem caused' just to let a few trumped up world leaders strut around in 'dry as bone' coats for a few days.

The images seen in recent times, on the news, of the police and security forces using the methods akin to those seen overseas in countries with far less pride in their civil rights than we have, are frightening to say the lest.

Are we as Australians prepared to allow this sort of behaviour?

I am not saying there should not be security and in this day and age some precaution taken to ensure the safety and security of these VIP's,

but this is Australia Not Israel,

this is our country, AUSTRALIA

Sydney is our City.

What did they think was going to happen?
The over kill was just so far beyond anything we have seen prior it can only described as pathetic. Here are few security precautions taken:

Snipers on Roof tops

Police barriers

Areas Restricted

Public Access stopped

even to their places of work

Police Bus barricades Water pressure trucks

Security offices patrolling streets

Police patrolling streets

Stop and search anyone

No traffic in

No pedestrian traffic

Air Space restricted

These are just some of the efforts made how ridiculous and how little faith the authorities must have in the people who put them there.

This is not what we as Australians come to expect from our Officials in any circumstances regardless of the situation.
The Government, we would have thought would have a little more faith in the Australian Public and our ability to take a small disruption, and What about the Aussie Pride in a Job well done, did the powers that be think we would allow any sort of bullshit terrorist nonsense to ruin our reputation.

All the people of Australia wanted in return for tolerating this total kaotic disruption to their lives, lose of income, some people were even sacked, because the business lost too much cash, was our basic right to peaceful protest against issues being discussed by these men.

This Right was taken from us and the from the Media I might add.
Police used excessive force in several instances not only in regards to protests on a man taking his 11 year old son to lunch who was thrown to the ground, and arrested trying to cross the road to meet his son.

The Police removed their name badges and all forms of identification this is unlawful in Australia.

At the top of this post is video of the Police Actions taken, please take the time to watch.
This video shows how our Government Values Its People and our ability to voice OUR opinions

Chasers did it again

For those of you who do not know the Chaser's, Chaser's War on Everything is an Australian TV program broadcast on the ABC (Australian Broadcast Commission). These guys are a crack up and tend to find holes security, play pranks directed at getting at the heart of the matter.
This is a news report from Yahoo as to their latest prank at APEC. To see video check out the side bar......How much did we spend on security hmmmmmm.... even I know Canada is not part of Apec....

Chaser tests police patience again
Members of ABC TV's The Chaser team have been questioned after another APEC stunt, just hours after security officials warned their pranks could result in someone being shot.
As authorities fumed over Thursday's fake motorcade, three more of The Chaser team were quizzed by police in Sydney before being released without charge.
Craig Reucassel, Chris Taylor and Dominic Knight on Friday dressed up in black cardboard boxes shaped like limousines, complete with Canadian flags on the front and paper plates as wheels.

Their action was a send-up of Thursday's stunt, in which 11 Chaser members were charged after driving real vehicles - decked out to resemble a Canadian motorcade - through APEC security checkpoints.

They got within metres of US President George W Bush's Sydney hotel before being stopped.
Embarrassingly for those responsible for protecting the 21 world leaders attending the APEC gathering, The Chaser antics earned worldwide media coverage.

Some American TV newsreaders raised their eyebrows at the motorcade story, while others laughed at the prank in which Chaser member Chas Licciardello jumped out of a Canadian-flagged "fauxtorcade" dressed as Osama bin Laden.
"A prank by a TV comedy crew has turned into an international incident and it could end up making a laughing stock of the entire (APEC) security machine," said a straight-faced Phillip Palmer, a newsreader on America's ABC TV network.
"$US160 million was spent to keep dignitaries safe, and a convoy of actors got within yards of President Bush's hotel."

CNN, FOX News, NBC and CBS also carried stories showing footage of the Chaser members being arrested.
News website USA Today trumpeted: "Security isn't as tight as you'd think in Sydney."
In Canada, The Vancouver Sun newspaper saw the funny side, despite the fact that The Chaser team posed as Canadian officials.

"Aussie spoofsters fly Maple Leaf to undress APEC security," was the headline in the Sun.
Eleven members of The Chaser's War on Everything team were charged on Thursday with entering a declared area without justification. Police are considering further charges.
Chaser stars Licciardello and Julian Morrow, along with nine others, including production crew and hire car drivers, could face a maximum six months' jail if convicted.
After Friday's effort, Reucassel said police allowed the three questioned to go free after determining no laws had been broken.
"The police basically just detained us and checked whether we'd breached any laws, which we hadn't and we're on our way," he told ABC Radio.
Taylor added: "It was good. We didn't do anything wrong at all. We were very careful to stay within the letter of the law and I think the police realised that, so yeah, it was fine."
NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione was among those who failed to see the funny side of their first stunt, saying they could have got themselves shot by snipers.
"I'm angry, I'm very angry that this stunt happened, it was a very dangerous stunt," Mr Scipione said.
"The reality is ... (they) put security services in a position where they might have had to take an action no one would want."
Federal Opposition Leader Kevin Rudd was also concerned Thursday's stunt could have ended in tragedy.
"I would very much hate for there to be any injuries, let alone fatalities, occurring because people were trying to push the security margins for entertainment purposes," Mr Rudd told Southern Cross Broadcasting.
NSW Premier Morris Iemma was also unimpressed: "We all enjoy the Chaser program but what happened was not a joke, it is serious, and we would all have preferred it did not happen."
Security expert Neil Fergus said Thursday's prank had embarrassed authorities, even though the comedians did not breach the "inner sanctum".
"The only thing they posed a risk to, ultimately, is our senses of humour," he said.
ABC Television on Thursday night said The Chaser team had no intention of entering a restricted zone, but had been waved through by police and turned around once they realised where they were.
Morrow denied the stunt was irresponsible and a danger to public safety.
"I wouldn't think so. Hard to say ... lucky it was us and not al-Qaeda," he told ABC Television.
Confiscated material, including mobile phones, camera and sound equipment was returned by police on Friday, The Chaser's producers said in a statement.
The footage is likely be returned by police in time for Wednesday's show.

George W Bush is he really the worst President ever

Aussies pick Bush for a 'dud': poll

What do Australians think of United States President George Walker Bush, yes I know what the W stands for, well we think he is the worst President the US has ever had and that is saying something, worse then Richard Nixon, worse than Ronald Regan will that is pretty steep company but there you have it.

We all know the stupid things GW has done. His strangely out of context comments and his Bushisms to name just a few, but you do have to admit he has been good value, us comic types have had a field day. We all seem to know the bad things he has achieved the bad decision and the bad policy so I am not going to list them here I do enough bagging as it is.

But I started to wonder what things has he done that were any good?

Has the current US Government had any good policy?

Have they done anything at all which would allow the citizens of America to think he had accomplished something good?

this is the US governments site for the 43rd President.

JOBS AND THE U.S. ECONOMY

Between 2000 and 2003, productivity grew at the fastest three-year rate in more than 50 years.
In September 2003, the U.S. Department of Commerce reported the lowest unemployment rate (5.4%) since October 2001.
The president's tax relief allowed families to keep more of what they earn by cutting tax rates across the board.

HELPING THE NEEDY

In 2003, President Bush announced the Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, a five-year, $15-billion initiative to turn the tide in combating the global HIV/AIDS pandemic. Just one month after Congress appropriated funds for the president's plan, $350 million was awarded to service providers for critical prevention efforts and to bring life-saving treatment to suffering people in some of the hardest-hit countries in Africa and the Caribbean.

EDUCATION REFORM

President Bush submitted his framework for education reform, No Child Left Behind (NCLB), three days after taking office and secured overwhelming bipartisan support less than a year later. NCLB represents the most significant overhaul of U.S. education policy since 1965, when the Elementary and Secondary Education Act was passed.

MAKING HEALTH CARE MORE ACCESSIBLE

In December 2003, President Bush signed legislation that makes Health Savings Accounts available to millions of Americans. Health Savings Accounts offer flexible, affordable insurance options for small businesses and individuals.
This legislation also will make prescription drug coverage available to 40 million senior citizens and people with disabilities through the Medicare healthcare system.

PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT

President Bush has committed America to meeting the challenge of long-term global climate change by reducing the ratio of greenhouse gas emissions to economic output, or greenhouse gas intensity, by 18 percent by 2012 compared to 2002.
In December 2003, President Bush signed legislation implementing key provisions of his Healthy Forests Initiative. The President's initiative is helping restore the health and vitality of forests and rangelands, and helping reduce the threat of catastrophic wildfires.

Regardless of what we see and hear in the media it appears it is not all doom and gloom or is it.... I really would like to know has any of this had an impact on your life, has it changed your opinion of this man or has his past, present and future mistakes condemned him to be considered the Worst President EVER?

Here what Australians think:

Savaged in new poll: George W Bush
A new Galaxy Poll says a majority of Australians believe George W Bush is the worst president in US history.
Mr Bush is due to arrive in Australia this evening for the APEC conference in Sydney.

The new poll shows that 52 per cent of those surveyed agreed with the statement that Mr Bush was the worst-ever president, while 32 per cent disagreed.

Dr Robert Marr from the Medical Association for the Prevention of War - the organisation that funded the poll - says most Australians do not agree with Mr Bush's policy in Iraq.

"Australians are not anti-American, they're anti the policies of George Bush, particularly the invasion of Iraq," Dr Marr said.

"Mr Howard has got it dead wrong when he says that opposing George Bush is opposing the American alliance.

"It is not that. Australians are sensible enough to know the difference between a dud president and good Americans."

What are we teaching our Kids

As I get increasingly older I am often astounded at the world around me. I don't mean in a Wonderful World sense, I mean in a peculiar sense. I find peoples interpretation of what they see, hear, read, feel as ever more odd.

We let our children, ages 8-16years, watch on TV programs like Home and Away, or Die Hard 4.0 (great Movie by the way), or CSI which ever one you like, Terminator etc, all of which show death, destruction, shootings, bombings, car accidents, abuse, bullying, and all the things we tell are kids they should not do, but when it comes to love, sex (not porn), kissing, tenderness, and all things related to relationships, we shy away and do not let them see.

Why is that we would prefer to let our children watch someone get their head blown off or they kneecaps shot out, than let watch than see a woman's breast on TV.
I find it strange that this is the case.

We try and teach our children to care about each other, but all we seem to feed them is these images of horror. The games they play are generally war based or shoot 'em up, in some form or another, games blowing up or shooting people, this has to have some impact, whether it be desensitising their emotions or honing their skills for the next World War I don't know which.
I don't mean let your child watch full on sex scenes I talking about cuddles etc.... you should know the difference.

If you want to teach a dog to sit you tell it sit, you show it sit, you reward it when it sits and eventually it sits. When you tell a child sit, then show a child stand, reward them when they stand eventually they will only know stand.

In this ever increasing world of analysing, why do we constantly blame the Television programs, blame the Internet, blame the schools, teachers, the kid next door, the computer games and our kids friends, when in actual fact it is us society which allows the unbalance in the first place.
I am not calling for more censorship but I do think we need to look at what we a teaching our children and what we really want them learn.

After all when this generation grows up chances are they will become violent, take drugs, drink to much, join gangs, steal, behave badly, have tantrums at the age of 19, take people for granted, think money grows trees, must have the newest best and most expensive, be thoughtless and self absorbed if we aren't careful.

The Claytons Government....We have to have

Australias Political Government system is based on the Westminster British form of Government. Commonly known as Federalism. This gives us 3 levels of government, and two major political parties. It is broken down like this:

Local Government (councils)

State government Labor or Liberal Parties

Federal Government Labor or Liberal Parties

There are also other parties which can hold seats within the Government such as Independent members which do not belong to a party, Democrates, Greens, Family first, but none cannot hold Power...ie only a liberal or Labor party leader can become State Premiere or Prime Minister. At an election we can vote for anyone from any party on the ballot slip, however these none Labor and liberal members must give their vote to one of the major parties and this can quite often give one of the major parties power to govern.

The problem we are seeing at present is suido opposition party in Government. The Prime Minister John Howard leader af the Australian Liberal Party is loosing popularity at a steam train rate with as a consequence the opposition leader Kevin Rudds increasing. Something which is striking me more and more often is the blurring of the line between the two parties....

John Howard is slipping he is old, out of touch, and seemingly more and more concerned for the wealthfair of big business....this is no surprise the Liberal Party has always been pro business, where the confusion starts is the Labor Party and Kevin Rudd's similar interests, the Labor Party has traditionally been the workers party fighting for fairness in the work place, social change and equality etc.. it was founded by and still has a large number of Union Representives. Rudd seems to be distancing himself on any and all issues which promote this. Following in many cases Howards lead on issue and agreeing if not fully then in the most part with his views and policies.

With People such Peter Garrett, yes the former Midnight Oil lead singer, protest leader, Environment Warrior, joining the Federal Labor Party we were given the impression of yes finally someone to get the message out there but like so many of the these well meaning people they are falsed to follow the party lines and unfortunatly his hands have been tied and his mouth gagged on the issue he was once famous for.

This is not the case in all areas of policies but it does seem to be in the vast majority of them...
So I ask you when we go to vote this year for our new Prime Minister will it make any difference who we get.....
Howard lies and out of touch messages ... or Rudds Yes Sir mentallity....

White House pranksters wrap Rove's car

Hot Off the Presses

White House pranksters wrapped White House political maven Karl Rove's black Jaguar in plastic wrap on Wednesday on the private driveway next to the West Wing.

Rove's car was easily recognisable. Besides the clear-plastic sheen, it bore a bumper sticker that said "I love Barack Obama" and had twin stuffed-animal bald eagles on the trunk.

Oh, and there was a stuffed-animal elephant on the hood, the Republican party symbol possibly placed there to offset the Democratic presidential candidate's bumper sticker. For the record, as the top White House political strategist to Republican President George W Bush, Rove is not an Obama supporter.

Rove, who recently announced his resignation, left his car on the driveway while visiting Texas and travelling with Bush.

He returned to the White House early this evening, ventured out to the driveway and, wearing a big smile, began unwrapping the car. Rove got some help from a few eager children who had come by the White House to watch the president's arrival on the South Lawn in the Marine One helicopter.

Rove seemed to assign blame for the prank on Al Hubbard, chairman of Bush's National Economic Council. He playfully pointed the finger at Hubbard while the kids ripped off the plastic wrap.

The price of a pizza in Iraq: an eye and a leg

This news report has appeared on the Yahoo Australia site......
It begs two question:
1.. in a Country at war why the hell are civilians being recruited to work as civilians in such areas.....
2.. What the Fudge is Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and others doing feeding the soldiers whilst at war regardless of the reasons for being there.....?

Do you think having a Pizza Hut MacDonalds etc in the Trenches during WW2 would have made a difference....?

Perhaps these are jobs the United States and Australian Politicians children could do...? after all they don't wont them fighting.....

But like all Governments they would they would preferr to send the poor into places of harm, paying them a pitiful wage.
Is this because they are not as worthy as middle class families or are they just to much of problem for people to care?
Unfortunately will the oportunities are there people with very little choice will be used and abused in this fashion.... There is no reason why if this trend continues they at least cannot be paid a reason wage, with medical and compensation included with in their wage stucture.... and a time limited placed upon the time they remain in these areas.....
If they cannot be guaranteed some form of safety and reconpense they should need be there...
The American government has a lot to answer for in this regard....

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Constantine Rodriguez had just fetched chilli peppers and was going out to get some onions when he heard the siren for an incoming rocket. All he remembers was a door blasting open and a loud explosion.
A quiet man from the former Portuguese colony of Goa in southwestern India, Rodriguez was working at a Pizza Hut restaurant at Taji, one of the main U.S. air bases in Iraq, when he was caught up in an attack.
He is lucky to be alive, said Lieutenant-Colonel Matthew Martin, the surgeon who treated him earlier this month at the 28th Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad. Shrapnel took out an eye, pulverized one of his legs and damaged his torso. He lost a lot of blood, but surgeons were able to save him.
As he lay recovering in hospital, all he could think of was the new wife he had left in India when he went to Iraq last year, and the 7 1/2-month-old baby he had never met.
"I had gotten the capsicum. And I was going to get onions," Rodriguez told Reuters from his hospital bed. "I heard the siren ... What happened after I don't know.
"I don't blame anybody. Just take care of me and my family. One leg. One eye. What can I do with my family now?"
The Kuwaiti firm that employed Rodriguez, Al Homaizi, operates 11 Pizza Huts, 13 Burger Kings and five Taco Bells on American bases in Iraq, said Joe Petrusich, who runs the firm's Iraq restaurants.
It employs about 300 workers, recruited in Kuwait but nearly all from poor countries in Asia: India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the Philippines.
They are a small part of the vast army behind the army -- the tens of thousands of "TCNs" -- "third-country nationals" -- hired to feed U.S. troops, wash their laundry, build their compounds and clean their toilets, for salaries of at most several hundred dollars a month.
The U.S. military says that by contracting out tasks like cooking and cleaning, it can provide its soldiers with a better environment at a lower cost.

CONTROVERSY BACK HOME
For poor countries, allowing their citizens to work in Iraq has been controversial and often politically sensitive.
India has told its citizens not to work in Iraq since 2004, when three Indian contractors were kidnapped and demonstrators took to the streets at home complaining the government did too little to protect them.
But there is little a country can do to prevent its citizens taking work that pays much better than jobs at home.
The Philippines now puts stamps in new passports saying they are not valid for travel to Iraq.
Petrusich said the firm still employed Filipino workers in Iraq, as long as they have old passports without the stamps.
Al Homaizi is Pizza Hut's franchise in Kuwait, with 45 restaurants in that oil-rich Gulf state, where nearly all workers are recruited from poor Asian countries. The firm offers staff at its Kuwait restaurants double pay if they go to Iraq.
For Rodriguez, that was the equivalent of about $450 a month, enough finally to find a wife and start a family back in India after 10 years of working in Kuwait. The average per capita income in Goa is about $1,100 a year.
Petrusich said Rodriguez would receive free medical care in Kuwait, including physiotherapy and a prosthetic leg, and one-off payments totaling 18,333 Kuwaiti dinars, about $55,000, if he is finally deemed permanently disabled.
"I'm very close to these guys. I've known all of them. I know we do everything we can," he told Reuters by telephone from Kuwait. "It's just an unfortunate situation that has happened."

2007/08

I was recently asked a very interesting question and although it does follow directly with the political aspects of this blog it might give an insight into how we think.
Years ago I watched a movie called 'Risky Business' starring a very cute young guy called Tom Cruise. A few years later I saw another movie starring this fellow called 'Top Gun', and yet another with a very young Nicole Kidman.....
Then we hear that Tom Cruise and Nicole are to be married and as time went they seem to be the Modern Day Camelot couple...everything they touched turned to gold.
After years of marriage they finally split much to the worlds shock. How could this happen?
Stories arose about a another woman and true to hollywood form it was true......
A few years pass and we see Tom jumping around like a 4 year carrying over another girl Katey, he is just happy and excited he can hardly contain himself and so decides he doesn't need too...And his popularity appeared to drop big time:

All this leads me to ask the question I was asked:

Do we still like Tom Cruise?
Is he still the nice guy we thought he was?
Or do you preferr Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom?
Given the choice whose slippers would be under your bed for one night Tom Cruise, Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp?
Or who is favourite and why?

How to stop Terrorism

I am sitting here drinking my Vodka, Lime and Lemonade....thinking about my next post.... and after 3 drinks.....well that's what I am telling you..... have come up with a solution for the worlds present problem.....

How to stop Terrorism......!

Using the following thought process....

Most politicians make their best breakthroughs in diplomatic matters after hours, over a few drinks.......
I tried it. It works, thing seem so much simpler when you introduce alcohol into the negotiations.... if its good enough for pollies then it good enough for me.....

Here my plan.....

This wont work for religious extremist groups for that solution please go to
http://whatisgodthinking.blogspot.com/

But for all other forms of terrorism you know all the ones who don't like the government, a particular race of people, the neighbouring village, neighbouring country etc

Instead of banning these organisation as terrorists and giving them more of excuse to cause havoc on the rest of us..... we should appoint each of their leaders into a new council.....

This would be called the:
'Council of Self Righteous Bastards Who Know Better than the Rest of the World'

Part one

Each group will have to send its leader, this will be determined by popular vote...
They must have the full power and control on each organisation....
Each member of the council will sit opposite the member whom they at war with and as a matter of course discuss any and all grievances with this party through the mediation of the council.....

If for any reason a happy outcome can not be reach in open and frank dialogue, then part two of the mediation will take place......

Part two

A boxing ring will be permanently erected in the council chambers with world media coverage.... a boxing match will be said to be challenged. The two council members will enter the ring and fight it out winner takes all... and will be resolved to have won the argument...... and the matter closed.

Part three

If the dispute is still not settled and an amicable agreement cannot be reached between the members and this is likely to lead to war in their home lands. Then this will result in one member of each of the frueding council members close family being taken before the council and shot.... unless an agreement can be reached within a 2 day period....

I do believe that if the leaders of these organisation where to use the simple rules of talk about it, when that fails fight it out, and if all else fails, show you mean business, many Innocent lives could be saved.....

This would not just apply to present rebels and terrorists and couldbe applied across the board to any and all countries thinking of going to war, any government leader whom thought they had reason to invade another country and/or any government, person, organisation who thought they could do a better job than those presently in power...

This would stop all Coups, Civil Wars, World Wars, Territoral disputes, Factional fighting, terrorists, and any other unrest which leads to the deaths of innocent people....

Just think how much money could be raised to help get these countries back on their feet through ticket sales to the boxing match....just don't tell fox media

How many people when then the argument affects them directly will allow their mother husband, wife, child to be shot, rather than talk and come up with solution...not many....

What do you think

strange facts

Isn't this just typical of our government

It is interesting that the federal government provides a single refugee with a monthly allowance of $1,890.00 and each can also get an additional $580.00 in social assistance for a total of >>$2,470.00.

This compares very well to a single pensioner who after contributing to the growth and development of Australia for 40 to 50 years only receives a monthly maximum of $1,012.00 in old age pension and Guaranteed Income Supplement.

Maybe our pensioners should apply as refugees!

Let's send this to all Australians so we can all be ticked off and maybe we can get the refugees cut back to $1,012.00 and the pensioners up to $2,470.00 and enjoy some of the money we were forced to submit to the Government over the last 40 or 50 years.

In the news

This morning we were informed that the leader of the Australian Labour Party Kevin Rudd had in 2003 become very drunk and visited a strip club whilst in New York City.

We as Australians are expected to say:
"Oh my God the shame of it",
" Well I am not voting for him Now!",
" how could he have a few drinks to many and go watch beautiful women dance around with hardly any clothes on!"

After all he is Australian, he is male, He was overseas....

It is almost an Aussie tradition when you go overseas to get pissed and chase after or go watch women doing what they are getting paid for.....

Besides I think if this is the worst thing the Liberal Government can find to try and muddy his name then his got my vote.....

its not as if he lied about invading a middle eastern country,
or lied about dangerous nuclear and chemical weapons being hidden by a mad dictator,
or lied about Asian parents throwing their children overboard into the sea off a refugee boat,
or lied about a Goods and Services Tax... never ever ever...

oh sorry that was our Prime Minister John Howard .....
hmmmmm I think I'll the Strip club Rudd ....

Update on wiki

Saturday August 18, 05:52 PM
CIA and Vatican edit Wikipedia entries

SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) - A US hacker's homemade program to pinpoint origins of Wikipedia edits indicates that alterations to the popular online encyclopedia have come from the CIA and the Vatican.

Virgil Griffith's "Wikiscanner" points to Central Intelligence Agency computers as the sources of nearly 300 edits to subjects including Iran's president, the Argentine navy, and China's nuclear arsenal.

A CIA computer was the source of a whiny "Wahhhhh" inserted in a paragraph about Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's plans for the office.

"While I cannot confirm whether any changes were made from CIA computers, the agency always expects its computer systems to be used responsibly," CIA spokesman George Little said in response to an AFP inquiry.

Wikipedia is a communally refined Internet encyclopedia that taps into the "wisdom of the masses" by letting anyone make changes.

Its founders believe people who know better will quickly correct inaccurate or misleading information.

Griffith, a university graduate student and self-described hacker, says his software matches unique "IP" addresses of computers with Wikipedia records regarding which machines are used to make online edits.

"I came up with the idea when I heard about Congressmen getting caught for whitewashing their Wikipedia pages," Griffith explains on his website.

Most edits listed at Wikiscanner involve minor changes such as spelling. Some alterations involve removing unflattering information, adding facts or inserting insults.

Wikiscanner's roster indicates a Vatican computer was used to remove references to evidence linking Ireland's Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams to a decades-old double murder.

Someone at the US Democratic Party's Congressional campaign committee changed a description of conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh to replace "comedian" with "bigot" and dub his listeners "legally retarded."

"We don't condone these sorts of activities and we take every precaution to insure our network is used in a responsible manner," committee spokesman Doug Thornell told AFP.

A Republican Party computer purportedly was used after the US invasion of Iraq to change "occupying forces" to "liberating forces" in a Baath Party entry.

A United Nations computer is identified as the source of an edit that calls a respected Italian journalist a promiscuous racist.

Someone using a US Senate computer altered a profile of veteran White House reporter Helen Thomas to complain she "interrupts" and is annoying.

An edit traced by Wikiscanner to the BBC changes causes of former prime minister Tony Blair's heart palpitations from strong coffee and vigorous gym workouts to vodka and exertion in a bedroom.

Wikiscanner also identified a BBC computer as being used to change US president George W. Bush's middle name from "Walker" to "Wanker" at Wikipedia.

A computer belonging to Reuters news service is listed as adding "mass murderer" to a Wikipedia description of Bush.

Griffith said it appears common for political figures to "whitewash" entries by replacing negative adjectives with flattering ones and that corporations seem inclined to insert criticism of competitors.

Politicians and corporations show similar tendencies to remove critical information, according to Griffith.

Griffith still considers the collaborative open Wikipedia model reliable.

"Overall -- especially for non-controversial topics -- Wikipedia already works," Griffith says on his website.

"For controversial topics, Wikipedia can be made more reliable through techniques like this one ... to counteract vandalism and disinformation."
